Since I've gotten a bit more comfortable with the Thrive recipes, I have experimented a bit with similar energy bar and smoothie recipes so I can share them with all of you! I must say they both turned out very tasty!
So in order to make this whole Thrive thing more long-term I have decided to admit to the fact that Brendan Brazier's idea of an entree is not very tasty. I mean, this diet is more catered to hardcore athletes (Ironman triathletes) than healthy vegans who like to workout (me). Soooo I have decided to follow Thrive for 5 out of 7 breakfasts a week, snack on Thrive-y smoothies and energy bars (great pre-workout fuel), and have a Thrive-y salad for either lunch or dinner each day. My other meal will just consist of regular vegan fare. I will try to limit dessert to 3 times a week.

I don't know about you, but I like my smoothies without oodles of added sugar and a hefty price. Not to discredit Jamba Juice, they make some really delish stuff! Annnd they have all-fruit smoothies, and a new line of fruit + veggies smoothies that I would be interested in trying... However, if you like to try a smoothie that is just as good and has a flavor quite similar to Odwalla's Mango Tango, then go ahead and give this a try : ) Oh my goodness this smoothie is a beautiful thing...overflowing with healthy fats, fiber, and vitamins that will leave you feeling full and rejuvenated. This is my favorite version of Oh She Glows' Classic Green Monster. This recipe is extremely customizable, and you can also visit Angela Liddon's Green Monster Movement for more ideas.
Let me just address something really quick, I know I said you wouldn't be seeing anything until next week, but I couldn't contain myself! These pictures are from a while back when my dream of starting a food blog was just that....a dream. I also feel that Spring Break is a good time to get this up and running so hopefully these are some helpful starter recipes. I know this is a good one in particular for my mouth's current numb and throbbing state... PS: Don't forget to contribute to my poll on the right! I want to know what you want! : ) Since I am getting my wisdom teeth out tomorrow morning, you best believe I will living off of these and Green Monsters (coming soon!) for the next few days. This recipe is inspired by Oh She Glows' Clementine Creamsicle Smoothie. This smoothie is so thick, creamy, and refreshing...it will blow your mind. And you would never guess it has avocado in it!
