If we're facebook friends, you may have seen that I finally made my mom vegan food that she thoroughly enjoyed! This is groundbreaking. So I had to share this life changing recipe with you.
Time to stop apologizing and start getting my butt in gear people! I'll now be living at home with a beautiful, spacious, well-stocked kitchen and I'm sooo excited.

Angela Liddon's brilliance is endless. But if you've been reading my blog, you already new that. She managed to create an oil-free treat that tastes like apple pie. No seriously!
They may be called muffin tops, but they certainly won't give you one because they are suprisingly healthy: no refined sugar, whole wheat flour, plenty of apples, practically no saturated fat, and no cholesterol. Woooot : ) These are super tasty, so please enjoy! Sometimes I just feel like sharing...
I know I've put a lot of breakfast foods up lately, especially with oats and parfait qualities, but guess what? This is my blog! And I'll post my breakfast if I want to. And the past couple days I have had THE most phenomenal overnight oat parfaits. Ohmygoshyouguys. Introducing... What's an oatie you say? Well...its a smoothie with oats in it! Waaaait wait don't go! It's not as weird as you think. Unless you decide it's a good idea to sip it... I have come to accept that many of the things I eat, other people think are totally bizarre. But I'm okay with that. If you're willing to give these things a chance (because I wouldn't dare share a gross recipe with you) I appreciate you and you wont regret it : ) Note the spoon dearies...this is like a thick shake. Delicious, cool, and still tastes like breakfast.
I love(d) Almond Joys. Obviously I can't have them any more but I don't have to miss them now that I have this!
I have wanted to put up this recipe ever since I dreamt it up about a week ago. I've had it at least four times since and I'm not tired of it yet! Today I added granola and banana soft serve to make a VOO Parfait, OSG-style. It was sooo fantastic and healthy and filling, this may never get old... For those of you that are new to overnight oats, they are oats and chia seeds soaked in almond (or other nondairy) milk overnight. By the morning the mixture has thickened up and viola, cold (but delicious) oatmeal! From that basic recipe you can incorporate so many add-ins: protein powder, sweeteners, nuts, nut butter, fruit, granola...the list goes on my friends. I hope you will give overnight oats a try, even if you aren't interested in my version. Honestly...these weren't horrible, but I wouldn't make them again. Maybe it's because I couldn't follow the recipe exactly (I don't have all purpose flour of all things! fail.), or the fact that nothing will ever compare to the cute family-owned donut shop I used to go to in Pleasanton. Annnnd they're not that great for you anyways. I'm looking for a source of energy to get me through the morning, and these would just make me crash.
However, they are still a great alternative to regular donuts: all fried and nasty and made with animal products. They're also much lower in calories! I have provided the recipe as I made these donuts...however I would suggest you click on the link below the title and follow those instructions! The only thing I still don't know about is the egg replacer...my recipe came out much runnier than hers (thus the need for extra flour). Try using Ener-G and see if that works. Sorry this isn't the most hyped up post...but I have to be honest and I promised I would give you guys donuts! That day has finally arrived lovies...the day I present to you the best cinnamon rolls I can come up with. Let me tell you they are divine. Because it took me so long to get them to you and 4 tries to get them right, I have also included 4 different (and all wonderful) icing recipes! Whether it be too much butter, not enough cinnamon, the wrong kind of flour...you name it, I wasn't satisfied with it. I'm only bringing you the best...but so they don't totally go to waste, here are a few snapshots of my failed attempts: My third attempt should have been successful but I accidentally grabbed the whole wheat flour again and couldn't be sure if the final changes would make for a successful cinnamon roll. I also baked them in a muffin tin which I don't recommend. These treats are far from healthy, but a fantastic, vegan baked good you should indulge in every once in a while. I'm sure you deserve it! So without further ado...here's the final, beautiful, melt in your mouth product!
Anyone else dealing with finals right now? Probably most of you if you're in school...
Well I would urge you to take a break and treat yourself. Breakfast for dinner anyone? These pancakes are fantastic no matter what time of day it is. You really cant so wrong with peanut butter, banana, and chocolate. Oh baby. Good luck with finals if you're taking them! If not...well then just have a great day and treat yourself anyways! Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It starts up your metabolism, and can set up what eating choices you're going to make for the rest of the day.
This breakfast is a particularly special treat. It has a delicious sweet/tart combination, plus fiber and protein to start you off right. Annnd being a college student that usually only fixes meals for herself, the individual size is so convenient! It could also be used as a summery dessert. Yummm. Oh the versatility... This is a super simple, one-bowl Oh She Glows recipe that is great for breakfast or as a snack. I just lightened it up by trading the oil for applesauce and not including raisins. It is not an overly sweet treat, but in my opinion it is perfectly balanced.
By the way I have some announcements! I got a Google search bar so if you have a particular recipe in mind, this is an easy way to find it. I have mentioned this before, but you do have the option to subscribe to this blog by email. If you do so, you will NEVER get spam, just a message each time I post something new. Lastly, my poll is feeling a bit lonely right now, please contribute! And without futher ado... |
